Powerful Words 4

"Sticks and Stones will break my bones, but Words will never hurt me." When we were young this statement most likely came up. However, we know that the tongue can cut like a sword. We have the power to speak life or death into those around us.

"Sticks and Stones will break my bones, but Words will never hurt me." When we were young this statement most likely came up. However, we know that the tongue can cut like a sword. We have the power to speak life or death into those around us. The words we think influence us sometimes more than the words of others. Words from great leaders have changed or shaped our futures, and the Living Word of God changes us for eternity.

What words are you listening too? Are you listening to voices from others? Are they building you up and growing you closer to God? Maybe you are listening more to yourself. Often things we say to and about ourselves cause us to go down a direction that God did not intend. Maybe it's time for us all to start seeking God and the words he has for us.

Before my mom passed, she left behind a list of what she called Powerful Words. I wanted to share these with you as you search for your words. Each of these words also had scripture that she selected to be read with them. I hope these may bless you as they did me.

The most Tender word is love

  • 1 Corinthians 13: 13
  • Chapter 13 is all about love. Right now I find myself thinking about little babies and the word tender. You think about how you approach them, hold them, and care for them. They appear tender and you approach them in kind. Love is the same way. When you approach someone with love, it just feels right to show them love back.

The Sweetest word is heaven

  • Matthew 5:12
  • When I think about meeting my Father after my race is won. I think about how sweet it will be to have Him say, "Well done my good and faithful servant.". How sweet in deed will it be to forever praise and worship our Father in heaven for eternity.

The Dearest word is Jesus

  • John 14:6
  • Dear means beloved or loved. Jesus is love. He is the way, the truth, and the life. How should we live our lives? By the way He showed and taught us. How should we act? We should act in truth and love. But this world is hard. And our life is found in and through Him who died for us on the cross so we might have Life everlasting.

For there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved - Acts 4:12

I would love you all to pray and seek God for your one word this year. I would also like you all to think about those negative and sinful things that you or others think or say about you. Then seek God and His Word for truths that can break down these strongholds. You can use this link to help you find God's truths. ( Find Your Words )
